Company Information

QMS

Our Quality Management System (QMS) monitors and controls all aspects of our service delivery. The system, which is accredited to BS EN ISO 9001:2000, has a number of key co-ordinated elements:

Sustainability

We believe that we have an important part to play in sustainable development. We can either influence directly or advise clients of options for development which promote a sustainable agenda and enhance the development.

It is important to adopt a holistic approach to development to improve the quality of life and economic growth of the area and to effectively integrate work, living and leisure areas which have been increasingly segregated over recent decades as car usage increased.

We always work as part of the team to incorporate sustainability and value engineering and a rigorous approach is applied to ensure that opportunities are identified as early as possible.

Environmental Management

Our approach is based on ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and we have incorporated a series of measures within our Best Practice manual.

Information Technology

The company utilises a variety of design packages, each of which has been specifically chosen and then tailored to meet the operational requirements of our individual technical disciplines and these are all linked to AutoCAD for drafting.
The use of the 3D modelling package Revit forms a key and integral part of our structural engineering design, production and delivery process. Our civils team use PDS software to produce digital ground models upon which, in conjunction with Windes and Microdrainage, the interactive horizontal and vertical design of all infrastructure elements is undertaken. The building services team utilises Hevacomp, IES and AutoCAD MEP. Our traffic and transportation team operate primarily using Arcady, Oscady, Picady, Linsig, Tempro, Transyt and Trics. In addition we also have experience in project colaboration via the use of our extra-net and other web based systems.

Health and Safety

We pro-actively comply with Section 2 (3) of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. The company has an excellent safety record.

Risk Management

We have formal procedures in place to minimise risk and reduce residual risk. Procedures within our QMS ensure we meet our responsibilities under the CDM regulations. Each project comes under the authority of a designated Project Leader who takes responsibility for the technical design and the consideration given to health and safety issues.

Project Reviews

We monitor technical performance at key project stages from initial appointment through to completion. The reviews ensure validation of design information and verification of design concepts as well as the key issues of resources, programme, budget and CDM.

Project Quality Plans

A Project Quality Plan is prepared for each project process that records and monitors the services provided by Upton McGougan. This includes the brief, design changes, programming and staff involved. This is supported by a Quality action plan and review.

Quality Manual

Our Quality Manual with Operational Procedures is comprehensive in scope and provides detailed information on our QMS.
